Climate event risk training for relevant staff

Climate-related risks include flooding, drought, heatwaves, and other extreme weather events. These risks are more likely to occur due to climate change.

To adapt, your setting should consider training to equip your staff with the skills needed to understand, assess, and respond to these risks.

Identify who might it be relevant for

Start by identifying the people at your setting that climate event risk training is relevant to. These individuals are likely to include, but are not limited to:

  • climate adaptation lead
  • site or estates managers
  • business managers
  • sustainability leads
  • Senior Leadership Team (SLT)

Each of these roles plays a different part in developing your setting’s resilience to climate events. Understanding their specific responsibilities will allow you to choose the most relevant training for each group.</>

Tailor training to roles and responsibilities

Before arranging awareness or training, it’s important to assess your staff’s current knowledge and any gaps. This will help you determine what training is most appropriate. A one-size-fits-all training approach is unlikely to address the specific needs of each group.
