Energy awareness training

This guidance is intended to help you choose training that’s right for you. We can not recommend particular courses or resource providers.

Identify who might it be relevant for

Identify staff that energy awareness training is relevant to and who it might benefit. These individuals are likely to include, but are not limited to:

  • site or estates managers
  • business managers
  • sustainability and energy leads, champions or coordinators

Each of these roles plays a different part in driving energy efficiency programmes at your setting and reducing costs and carbon. Understanding their specific responsibilities will allow you to choose the most relevant training for each group.

Tailor training to roles and responsibilities

Before arranging awareness or training for staff on energy awareness, it’s important to assess the current need from your staff.

A one-size-fits-all training approach is unlikely to address the specific needs of each group. It’s best not to assume the level of knowledge and awareness a staff member or team might have. Everyone should receive some general awareness training either as a refresher or to improve their understanding.
