Update your Asset Management Plan (AMP) to manage climate-related risks

Not to be confused with an Estates Plan, an Asset Management Plan (AMP) focuses on the fixed assets of your setting, such as equipment, technology, and other physical resources, and how to manage and maintain them throughout their lifecycle. It ensures that your setting's assets are used efficiently, maintained properly, and replaced when necessary.

Updating your AMP to manage climate-related risks is essential for ensuring that your physical assets are well protected, secure and resilient to the impacts of climate change. This safeguards health and safety ensures cost effectiveness. It can help to use the results of your Climate Risk Assessment and Climate Adaptation Plan to inform any updates. For instance, you can integrate your climate adaptation goals and interventions into the timeline for upgrading any assets.

This approach can save money in the long run by reducing repair costs, downtime, and damage to essential assets. Updating the AMP in this way ensures maintenance and upgrades are aligned with climate resilience, minimising costly emergency repairs.
