Identify some long term water management interventions

Through engagement with your water supplier, completion of your water audit, and the progress you have made against your water management quick wins, you should now look to identify longer-term actions that you can take to improve your water management.

Long-term interventions lead to systemic changes in how water is used and managed, resulting in sustained improvements rather than temporary fixes. For example this could include installing rain water harvesting systems, low flow fixtures and appliances, grey water recycling systems, or smart irrigation systems. You can also develop educational and behaviour change campaigns to support your interventions, and collaborate with other settings to create cross institution competitions.

This approach will help to create a culture of responsible water management across your staff and learners. It also ensures that you take a continuous improvement approach to managing water use, creating continued opportunities to reduce your carbon footprint, which will help you to achieve your net zero goals.
