Incorporate low carbon design principles in any building works

Develop a process to ensure that any changes, improvements, or refurbishments to your site and buildings incorporate low carbon design principles and materials. Examples include using energy saving intelligent control systems, low carbon materials and design features like non-fossil fuel derived insulation that maximise energy-efficiency. Also consider incorporating renewable energy and hot water systems like solar panels.

For an effective approach, integrate these principles into the initial business case stage and carry them through to the requirements, design and build stage. You may need to consult a professional service provider, depending on the scale and size of the proposed works.

This will help to reduce energy costs, lower carbon emissions and develop a more resilient building.
