Develop a programme of fundraising projects
At this stage you will have increased your community outreach across all areas of sustainability, and developed a good relationship not only with local charities and organisations, and the people who live in your local community. To build on this, you should aim to develop a regular programme of fundraising projects, perhaps run on an annual basis.
For instance, your programme might include running fundraising events, such as community clean-up days, eco-friendly workshops, or sustainability fairs, where participants can contribute financially while actively engaging in hands-on activities. You may also choose to tie into already existing community-led fundraising initiatives, where possible.
Pulling together your learning from any previous activities and turning them into a well-structured fundraising programme will help you to identify topics that most resonate with community members. This might be waste reduction, energy conservation, or biodiversity preservation, for example. This approach will help you to identify the most effective and engaging ways to fundraise in your community. Remember to regularly communicate the outcomes of your fundraising efforts, sharing success stories and updates to motivate continued involvement.
By completing this action you will create a platform through which you can regularly engage community members, raise awareness about sustainability issues, and generate vital resources to support your sustainability goals. Completing this step is an excellent way of publicly demonstrating your setting's commitment to sustainability, serving to enhance your setting's reputation as a leader in this space, as well as creating additional funding to support you to achieve your sustainability goals.
