Develop a vision and mission statement on biodiversity

Create a clear statement that outlines your setting's commitment to promoting and preserving local plant and animal diversity, recognising the impact of your community and operations on the local ecosystem.

A biodiversity vision will focus on your long term aims and goals, setting the direction of travel. Your mission statement sets out the short to medium term actions you will take to achieve your vision, to guide daily operations and decision making.

It can be helpful to engage your stakeholders and ask for their feedback to ensure your aims are aligned with the needs and values of your community. Once you have developed your biodiversity vision and mission statement, share this with your stakeholders to create a sense of shared ownership.

The mission statement provides a framework for decision-making and planning, guiding sustainable practices and educational initiatives. It should be reviewed periodically to assess and adapt your progress and aims as needed. This approach will help establish your setting as a leader in environmental responsibility, which can improve setting reputation.
