Milestones are key actions that enable you to complete your aims. You can also use them as points to share and celebrate your progress.
Identify and gather information related to sustainability, such as energy usage, waste generation, water consumption and spend data.
Speak to your staff and children or young people (where appropriate) to identify what actions you are already taking to become more sustainable, and where there are opportunities for improvement.
Determine which sustainability issues or goals are most important to your setting. Assess factors such as energy efficiency, waste reduction, outdoor learning, travel, biodiversity, heat and flood risk.
Gather input from your setting's staff, children and young people, and stakeholders to develop your sustainability goals and objectives.
Define what sustainability means for your setting, and agree your direction of travel and aspirations with stakeholders.
