Align all policies and strategies with your sustainability policy and strategy

Align all aspects of your setting - ranging from estates, procurement, and operations to teaching - with your sustainability policy and strategy. Ensure that sustainability principles are not only included, but embedded throughout the policies, documents, practices, and strategies that guide each area. This might involve revisiting them to integrate sustainability goals and evaluating them through a sustainability lens.

The outcome should be that sustainability principles are integral to the design and execution of every process and strategy. They actively shape decisions, operations, and performance measures.

Involve all relevant stakeholders across various teams. Recognise that this process will take time, and some areas may be more challenging to achieve than others. Implementing a phased approach can help ease this transition, allowing you to prioritise specific areas. This holistic approach ensures that sustainability is a core value across the school, guiding decision-making and everyday actions.
