Part of Let’s Go Zero, Climate Action Advisors are independent experts who offer free support for schools, colleges, and nurseries across England.
Assess opportunities to implement on-site sustainable travel solutions
Look at your current site and identify ways in which you can support your community to use sustainable travel. It can be helpful to use the results of your travel survey to prioritise focus areas.
For instance, some settings may focus on helping their community walk to school, while others may have received feedback to improve cycling or electric charging infrastructure and resources.
Involving your community in the decision making process can help to increase buy-in and encourage behaviour changes that will reduce your setting's travel-related carbon emissions.
This is also a fantastic opportunity to reduce or solve long term issues such as traffic congestion and parking issues at your site, while also improving air quality and making the site a safer, healthier place to be. Implementing the solutions you identify will create a more sustainable community, and enhance your setting's reputation as an environmentally conscious institution.
