Identify some longer term Scope 3 interventions

Identifying long-term Scope 3 interventions for your setting is crucial to creating your Net Zero Plan, as Scope 3 emissions often make up the largest part of an institution’s overall carbon footprint.

Using the Scope 3 data you have collected, and building on the Scope 3 quick wins you have progressed, choose actions that will help you to tackle high-impact areas in your supply chain, such as purchasing, commuting or food and catering.

Scope 3 interventions will often involve collaborating with suppliers , which is a fantastic opportunity to enhance your partnerships. It’s also an opportunity to embed sustainable practices into your culture, creating lasting change and awareness among learners, staff, and suppliers.

It can be helpful to use the successes and learnings from any Scope 3 quick wins you have implemented to support buy-in from leadership for any actions you want to take. By consulting your setting's community, you can ensure that the interventions you choose are challenging but achievable, and align with your stakeholders needs and values.
