Identify opportunities for renewable energy generation

Assess opportunities to install on-site renewable energy generation, such as solar panels or canopies, ground source heat pumps, biomass boilers, or small wind turbines.

It is recommended you engage with a professional service provider to complete the feasibility assessment of your site. Using a feasibility study ensures your setting's energy needs, space, and costs will be considered, and helps you make informed decisions about which renewable energy projects to pursue.

The assessor may also be able to advise you on local regulations or incentives for renewable energy, as many regions offer grants, subsidies, or tax breaks for settings investing in renewable energy systems.

Generating renewable energy on-site can significantly reduce your setting's carbon and greenhouse gas emissions by cutting reliance on fossil fuels for electricity or heating. This approach can also help protect you against energy price fluctuations and power outages, increasing your setting's energy security and resilience. Any renewable energy projects you choose to implement will create fantastic, real-world learning opportunities about sustainability, science, and engineering that can be tailored to any age.
