Develop an energy re-procurement plan
Understand how and when you will reassess and renegotiate your energy contracts to ensure you're sourcing energy in the most sustainable and cost-effective way. Buying energy can be a complicated process, so it’s important to understand your current position and your future options before making any commitments. Creating a plan will help you to identify all the required steps you need to take, and when you need to take them.
As a starting point, it can be helpful to speak with your energy supplier while developing your plan, as it will help you to identify key information which will inform your plan. This includes when your current energy contracts expire, any notice periods for termination and potential cost implications.
Developing this plan will help you to understand the energy market, understand where energy can be bought from (for example frameworks, local authority suppliers, or brokers), identify any procurement compliance that will need to be followed, and understand the buying process.
This approach ensures you can make informed decisions about energy procurement that can help to reduce operational costs, lower your carbon footprint, and align your energy sourcing with your sustainability goals.
