Seek a costed appraisal of your decarbonisation plan
Use a specialist to review your chosen decarbonisation measures and provide a breakdown of cost estimates, and what savings you can expect over time. This approach gives you a clear picture of the financial requirements, which will help you to prioritise and phase actions over time to suit your budget.
A specialist will be able to provide estimates for the cost of implementing these measures, including payback periods and return on investment (ROI), where appropriate. For example, energy efficiency improvements (such as installing solar panels, switching to LED lighting, or improving insulation) can significantly lower energy bills. An appraisal will show you how much you could save over time.
Having detailed cost estimates is also helpful when you complete any applications for funding, grants or subsidies, and can be submitted to support your application.
Benefits include gaining a clearer understanding of the financial investment required, which will enable better budgeting and planning, and identifying the most cost-effective actions to reduce your carbon and greenhouse gas emissions. This step supports informed decision-making and helps your setting prioritise actions that balance sustainability with financial responsibility.
