Part of Let’s Go Zero, Climate Action Advisors are independent experts who offer free support for schools, colleges, and nurseries across England.

Use your decarbonisation plan to inform capital investment

Using your costed decarbonisation plan to guide investments will ensure that funds are used strategically to maximise carbon reduction while minimising costs. It can help you to identify cost savings, time savings and efficiencies between your decarbonisation goals and other priorities.

This approach helps you plan and phase your larger investments over time, prioritising projects that are the most impactful, or offer the greatest return on investment (ROI). For example, upgrading to energy-efficient lighting or improving building insulation can reduce utility bills significantly, helping you to reach your net zero targets while also creating cost savings.
