Use your sustainability progress in your learning
Use the completed or in-progress sustainability projects in your long term sustainability plan as regular learning opportunities for your learners. This provides a unique way to integrate practical, real-world experiences into your Climate Education and Green Skills Delivery Plan.
For example, you can use your climate adaptation projects to introduce basic weather concepts through fun activities like drawing rain, sun, and wind with Early Years' learners. Further education learners can explore more complex topics such as green roofs or energy-efficient buildings, and how they reduce heat and conserve energy.
Using your projects in this way provides learners with practical, hands-on experiences that bring abstract concepts to life. This builds a deeper understanding of complex environmental issues and helps them see the relevance of what they are learning.
Engaging learners in sustainability efforts from a young age prepares them to be the next generation of environmental leaders. They learn critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills that are essential for addressing global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, and resource scarcity.
This approach can also encourage a sense of responsibility, by demonstrating how their actions have a direct impact on the world around them. It can also increase the success of any behaviour change initiatives you have developed as part of your Behaviour Change Programme.
