Part of Let’s Go Zero, Climate Action Advisors are independent experts who offer free support for schools, colleges, and nurseries across England.
Plan the ongoing integration of estates data into climate education and green skills learning
Develop a programme for the long term, routine integration of estates data into your climate education and green skills learning. This includes ensuring your sustainability lead, estates manager or team, and curriculum team have an established process for identifying new potential opportunities to use estates data as a tool across all subject matter.
Working in collaboration with your estates and site time will be essential. Think about using certain points of the academic year to embed this practice. This plan should be regularly reviewed and adjusted.
This will help not only lessons, but the entire learning experience of your learners, become more relevant and practical. It will put global issues into your local context. This will empower your learners to think about the impact of their daily activities, and encourage responsible stewardship of resources from an early age. It can also feed into your behaviour change programme and drive engagement from learners in initiatives taking place to reduce energy costs, active travel, food, water use and waste.
