Identify and monitor key biodiversity indicators

Use the results of your biodiversity assessment to identify specific plants, animals, or other ecological factors that you can use to monitor overall biodiversity health in and around your setting.

This action may include tracking populations of certain bird species, the presence of pollinators like bees and butterflies, or the diversity of plant species. Monitoring this information over time will give you helpful insights into the health of your local ecosystems and will help you to identify and prioritise actions to improve biodiversity.

This step provides excellent opportunities to educate your children and young people about environmental stewardship, and the importance of biodiversity and ecological balance.

Create a list to save actions and resources, or make a plan for your setting.
