Prioritise your Scope 3 focus areas

Scope 3 emissions will typically be the largest contributor of carbon emissions in an education setting. Their sources are also among the most complex to measure and tackle. Because of this, it's important to identify the most significant sources of Scope 3 emissions at your setting, and prioritise action against the top 2 or 3 each year.

Reducing Scope 3 emissions needs to be viewed as a multi-year programme. Prioritising your focus areas will ensure you better understand how they contribute to your carbon footprint, and can reduce their impact.

This approach will also help you to identify gaps or inaccuracies in the data you collect, and resolve them over time. This step acts as a key enabler to identifying the areas where you can make the biggest reductions to your environmental impact.

Create a list to save actions and resources, or make a plan for your setting.
